12-Month Supervision Order Victory

In this matter, we represented the first respondent mother who had given birth to her third child. Her eldest two children were, at the commencement of proceedings, placed outside of her care, with her eldest daughter residing with her biological father and her second eldest child residing in long term foster care. The Local Authority, having issued proceedings, sought immediate removal of the child with a plan of adoption based upon the mother’s historic poor mental health, substance misuse, domestically abusive relationships and chaotic lifestyle. This plan was initially supported by the Children’s Guardian based upon the evidence presented by the Local Authority. However, at the initial hearing, having undertaken a nationwide search for an appropriate residential placement that was able to offer the mother therapeutic intervention, we were able to successfully argue that the mother and child should remain together. The matter concluded with the making of a 12-month Supervision Order with the child remaining in the sole care of the mother and with the Local Authority supporting an increase in contact with her older two children.
