Brendan Fleming Solicitors have an exciting opportunity to join the team as an Apprentice Paralegal. We are interested in applicants that have a desire and strong interest in Family and Children legal work as this the only area of law that applies to these positions.
The purpose of the role is to assist caseworkers with their matters and undertake the duties asked in association with this, to represent and act upon client’s instructions in accordance with all the required legal processes including Court attendance. To give advice and guidance to clients when appropriate.

Current vacancies
We are looking for a Full Time Private Children/ Public Law Solicitor or CILEx.
Due to an increase in workload, we are currently recruiting for an experienced Family Fee Earner to join our team.
PQE 3+ preferably with Children Panel and / or Family Panel Status or with the aim to obtain membership within 12 months.
The position is based at our City Centre office in Birmingham with the flexibility of home working.
The successful candidate will be responsible for running a varied caseload of legal aid matters including care proceedings, domestic violence cases and children arrangements.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to progress their career as a Family Law Fee Earner in a growing department.
The Ideal Candidate
– A good knowledge of the CCMS system. You will be expected to be able ‘to hit the ground running’.
– You will be a hardworking, knowledgeable individual with excellent communication and IT skills.
– The ability to conduct advocacy competently from directions to contested hearings.
– You will have excellent client care skills.
– You will be technically excellent and be able to present and argue cases confidently and competently.
– You will be able to take instructions and run a caseload from that point through to archiving.
Job Details
– Salary negotiable, dependent on experience and opportunity for profit share.
– Hours: Monday – Friday 8:30am- 5:30pm

Are you the right candidate?

The best results don’t come easy, so you must be committed to hard work and long hours.
You may have completed a University degree in Law and / or passed the LPC Family Law, but whatever your educational background – you will be expected to know Family Law.
This is not the job for you if you are expecting us to introduce you to this field. That’s what university and college is for! For instance, you would not apply for a driving job with no knowledge of how to drive. We feel the same about family law.
We will of course teach you to become an expert in this field, however it is essential that you have a good knowledge and understanding of family law and what we do before you apply.
We promise to teach you client care, advocacy, procedures, legal aid ,casework and how to juggle cases.
