The Local Authority applied to the Court for removal of two young children, aged 5 and 4 years old, from the care of their parents due to concerns surrounding Female Gender Mutilation and sexual abuse. Having offered the mother some pro-bono advice prior to the Local Authority issuing proceedings and then securing funding immediately upon issuing, we were able to carefully scrutinise the evidence before the Court and by week three of proceedings the Local Authority applied to the Court for permission to withdraw altogether, having accepted that the legal threshold could not be established.
