In this case, we represented a mother who accidentally dropped her 6-week old baby onto a hard kitchen fall. The child sustained a fractured femur and fractured ribs. Whilst it was initially accepted that the fractured femur could be caused by the drop, there was an issue over the causation of the rib fractures. Ultimately, the clinicians could not say one way or another that the incident would not have caused the injuries. As such, the case was withdrawn by the local authority.
